The current El Nino has yet to pack a punch! Forecasters from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are still predicting with near certainty that this El Nino will last through the winter and will be the strongest since the 1997-98 El Nino and possibly the third strongest since 1950. The 1997-98 event sparked widespread storms and flooding that caused more than $4 billion in damage and killed 189 people nationwide.
Don’t wait for the rains to damage your home…If you wait then you will be in line with thousands of other homeowners needing the same kind of services and you’ll have to deal with the resultant damages…have a roofer come out to do a “tune up” on your roof. You can call John Alajoki from Till Roofing 949-830-1283, he’s the best.
Also talk to your gardener about having your yard drains cleared to prevent flooding in your yard and home.

Lyon Estate Subdivision/Scoping Meeting/12-7-2015 6:30pm
I attended a meeting last evening regarding the proposed Lyon Estate subdivision at the Bell Tower Community Center. The presenter was Mr. Kevin Canning who is a Contract Planner for the OC Development Services Department.
While the attendance was small the questions were to the point and answered, I believe, to everyone’s satisfaction. The proposed development will be for 25 single family home sites on 64 acres of the 138 acre estate property. This development is in keeping with the deed restriction imposed on the land at the time of purchase in 1981 that limits development to a 2 acre per minimum lot size.
There will be an EIR, Environmental Impact Report, and once completed will give the public a 45 day notice of time to respond with questions regarding the development.

South Orange County Economic Coalition Meeting, Cadiz & Poseidon Water Projects
I attended a meeting Friday morning, at the SMWD offices, of the South Orange County Economic Coalition. The first presentation by Laer Pearce, about the Cadiz Water, Conservation, Recovery and Storage Project. We were also treated to a presentation by Brian Lochrie re the Huntington Beach Desalinization Project. It was very interesting hearing about what our local leaders are doing to insure the availability of reliable sources of water for their respective communities.
